Some practitioners focus on the accumulation of non-referential wisdom, such as Dzogchen, Mahamudra, or Madhyamika meditation, treating other practices as less important. Others focus on the referential accumulation of merit through virtuous activities, such as prostrations, purifying obscurations, visualizing deities, reciting mantras, and so on, while not placing adequate emphasis on holding the ultimate wisdom view. However, without a balanced approach, progress is hindered.
